Ristorante Riva

In 2020, I had the opportunity to collaborate with Ristorante Riva on a graphic design project that brought to life a visual identity that was both playful and elegant. The primary goal was to convey the refined atmosphere and seafood specialty of the restaurant through a series of thoughtfully designed graphic materials.

My work began with creating a display board for the menu to be showcased in the window. This board needed to capture the attention of passersby while effectively communicating the essence of the restaurant. Following this, I proposed a series of designs for the menu and business card, taking into account the fact that the restaurant’s logo already existed.

Given the seafood nature of the restaurant, I was inspired to incorporate illustrations of typical Venetian lagoon fish. These illustrations became a distinctive feature, drawing attention and highlighting the authenticity of the restaurant’s cuisine. The use of soft and warm colors was carefully chosen to harmonize with the elegant and curated decor of the restaurant, creating a consistent and inviting visual experience.

For the menu, I proposed a square format, where the front displayed the fish’s head, and the back showed the tail. The idea was that, when the menu was open, it formed a harmonious and complete image. This concept extended to the business card, reinforcing a visual continuity across all the materials.

Unfortunately, after the devastating high tide that struck Venice in 2019, Ristorante Riva was forced to close its doors.
