Book Cover

The cover design for the book “Nell’acqua il mio segreto,” published by Edizioni El Squero, is a graphic work through which I aimed to convey the complexity and depth of the narrative, which unfolds through the novel’s pages. It was conceived and developed to capture the essence of three distinct storylines that, at first glance, seem disconnected: the life of Venetian violinist Iris, the adventures of Rodigian explorer Giovanni Miani, and the journey of an ancient Egyptian priestess.

Facing the challenge of representing these diverse narratives on a single cover, the creative approach led to a synthesis of symbols and cultures. The idea of using hieroglyphics as a unifying element was a decision shared with the author. The cover features a papyrus adorned with traditional Egyptian hieroglyphs, but within them are hidden “fake” hieroglyphs depicting iconic monuments and symbols of Venice. This combination merges two different worlds into one artistic expression.

The creation of this cover is a tangible example of how graphic design can convey complex messages through visual symbols. Every detail was carefully crafted to reflect the essence of the three interconnected storylines, making the cover a credible synthesis of the novel.

The official presentation of the book took place at the Luna Baglioni Hotel in Venice on March 3, 2023. The book is now available in bookstores in Venice and can be purchased online through the publisher’s website, offering readers a captivating preview of what awaits within the pages of “Nell’acqua il mio segreto.”

From my perspective, this project represents a successful synergy between graphic design and storytelling, imbued with symbolism and meaning, inviting readers on an exciting journey through different worlds and stories.
